As the year 2017 was coming to an end, visual art community and stakeholders in the art sector took time out to reflect on their past activities and way forward.

In line with this, members of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), Lagos were hosted to a special dinner party and symposium by two patrons in the visual art sector, Elder Jerome Elaiho and Chief Banjo Fasuyi on December 30 at Tafas House, off Adeniyi Jones Avenue Ikeja, Lagos. With the theme, The Artists Social Forum, the event was a total convergence of artists both old and young, in a special yuletide get-together, merriment and end of year party meant to bring together artists, curators, patrons and other art stakeholders in a celebration dedicated to all accomplished and upcoming Nigerian artists born in the month of November and December. The event anchored by Mufu Onifade and Dr. Kunle Adeyemi witnessed speakers dwelling mostly on issues that concern visual artists and their welfare. Guest speaker was Mike Omoighe while other speakers were Dr. Kunle Filani, Dr. Sola Ogunfuwa, Chief Banjo Fasuyi, Elder Jerome Elaiho, Dr. Ademola Azeez and others. Mainly, the body of Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) was burdened with the responsibilities of doing what is right to help members while other issues that further enhance the welfare of members were deliberated upon. Dr. Kunle Adeyemi in his own speech enumerated some challenges facing the young artists which he called a push over from the old generation. He, however, appealed to members to help one another, create time often to be together and also embrace the life of generosity. He harped on the need for artists to be proactive on local and national issues so as not to be left behind in important issues in the polity. In attendance were Dotun Alabi, Chairman, SNA Lagos, Dr. Jerome Elaiho, Dr. Mrs. Awo, and members of SNA Lagos chapter.
