 LAGOS—
A 15-year-old housemaid, Deborah Matthew, allegedly thrown out from a two-storey building in Surulere area of Lagos State yesterday, is said to be battling to stay alive.

It was gathered that the girl was accused by her boss of stealing her money and jewelries totaling N1 million and threatened to deal with her if she does not return them. The suspect, whose identity was unknown, was arrested and detained by policemen at Ijeshatedo Police Division. 042 reporters gathered that the suspect beat her and threw her down from the balcony of her two-story building. The girl, who sustained injuries on her forehead, was said to have been rescued by some residents while writhing in pains, before she was rushed to General Hospital at Ikeja. According to a Police source, some angry residents almost lynched the woman before she was rescued by policemen, who arrived and whisked her away. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, who confirmed the incident, said the housemaid was not thrown down from the balcony. “It was just a case of assault from her boss, who accused her of stealing something from her room, and she is receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Ikeja, where she was rushed to,” Famous-Cole added.
